Text by Noah I walked into the classroom this morning and Skype was on the projector. I was a nervous wreck! My partner Nidhi was so excited that she could not stop smiling! I sat down in my seat and at that second…BAM… Mr. Macmillan is trying to call our quadblogging buddies 5SK but they did not pick up the call. Then Mr. Macmillan tried again. Then they popped up on the screen. Nidhi kept counting down the people that asked the question already. We were quadblogging with 5SK in north Queensland, Australia. I was staring at the question I was going to ask on the clear, glass, window. At that moment we were up to ask the questions. Well, I introduced myself as well as Nidhi. I asked first “What sport do you play over there in Australia.” They said cricket, soccer, tennis, horseback riding. After that I was getting the hang of this. The Animals they have over there are neat! Get this; they have sheep and chickens for class pets! Other animals they have are Kolas and Kangaroos and Giraffes right outside of town! I was starting to get jealous that students at 5SK lived in Australia I was very surprised that there school is right next to the beach! Then I knew it would be a lot of fun to go to Australia! There accent is neat and they have another language. I got to see the principle at the 5SK School. Her name was Ms. Franklin she talked about earthquakes that have happened over there in Australia. They live near the beach and if an earthquake happened it would cause a tsunami at the beach. It was really nice to Skype with our quadblogging buddies and get to know them. Also one more thing they like mangos (like me) they use computers and I pads like us this year. I hope I could Skype with them again! Text by Svend-Luka Once Toby and Gasper, his pet fish went out to fish. When they got out Toby got a bite, a big one! He reeled and reeled then suddenly clank clunk the hull of the boat broke! He lost his rod and went to the cabin; Toby said “What are we going to do”
“Mrph” said Gasper. “I know I’ll beach the boat” said Toby. Then after a long battle to get control he managed. They later bought a new boat. They never fished there again. They transferred to a bigger and better lake. Text by Eugenio Friday, our class had a Mystery Skype. We skyped a school that we had no idea where it was and had to ask good and useful questions to figure out. We only figured out that they were in Sudbury, Canada while they found out we were in QSIS in Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina.
To communicate with each other, like saying what questions the next person should ask we used a program called TodaysMeet where we logged on as a group and sort of messaged each other. We also used Google Maps to find out where they were and an atlas to help us. We asked a lot of good questions and we were satisfied with the way it went. Haylie started the Skype by asking the first question and Svend-Luka ended it by trying to guess the city they were in. It ended up they were in St. Anne’s Catholic School in Sudbury, Ontario. We all enjoyed it and all the new kids at school (including me) think it was a really nice experience. It was also really cool to talk with kids our same age in Canada, which is about 10 or more hours away from here in Sarajevo. On another note, we hope to do it again soon!!! Text by Emil On a late Monday evening Mark the fisherman is sitting inside his cabin reading about different kinds of fish. One fish really caught Mark’s attention. It was a big red, flat, polka dotted fish which he had never seen before. He decides to go fishing for this fish. But he is out of worms. So he goes to the store. On his way he sees an old lady who is calling him over. She says she has magic worms that attracts fish. He buys them for two dollars. Mark takes his rod and goes to the green, murky lake…
TO BE CONTINUED Story by Noah I went to see the Yankees vs. Red Sox Baseball game with my dad. I was really exited! I was literally screaming at the top of my lungs! I was really sweaty and hungry and thirsty! I kind of was booing for the Yankees because they were losing. The score was six to seven. Some new guy named swashbuckle. I was afraid this guy had no chance of making a homerun… Suddenly I heard a crack… the crowd went wild! My dad and I were exited so much that we threw our food at the team. Then we got kicked out afterwards.
Descriptive paragraph by Haylie The Oldest Truck in the World As soon as the key was turned the engine wheezed and spewed out a thick, black, cloud of smoke. What used to be shiny, ruby red paint was replaced with brown, gritty, rust from each storm that passed by.The old, black, tires had patches all over them, and were covered with lots of dry mud. Inside, the vehicle had an unbearable, oily smell and, the air-condition had died. The air bags were deflated and fell down to the dirty floor, while the steering wheel had been chewed and munched on by the dog. The seats were ripped to shreds, and someone had been cutting off the leathery seatbelts with a sharp pocket knife. The doors all had dents, the left headlight had shattered, and a window had a pretty noticeable crack. Also the locks wouldn’t lock like they should. Lastly for your information, the vehicle was very, very slow and always went rick, rack, rickety, rack along all of the dirt or gravel roads.Apparently, the truck was very old. Extremely old to tell the truth. The oldest truck in the world.
Descriptive paragraph by Nidhi The Messy Room When the cleaning lady entered Margret’s room her eyes grew wide and she fainted. The pink and black quilt was dirty and was spread around. The books of Roald Dhal were scattered and ripped. When you open her purple closet clothes will jump out and you will be in a pile of colorful gowns and shirts. Tiny round marbles were everywhere. The room looked enchanted from outside but inside it was a disaster. All black rats and noisy flies were there. There were bits of chocolate cookies and strawberry cake on the floor. There was a bad odor in the room. The chandelier was almost going to land on your head. You would break your back because there was a slimy yellow banana skin. So you see the room was messy. By Eugenio This is how this ridiculous story started. I was just walking around my neighborhood. Just looking around and admiring my surroundings. But then some guy was like “NOOO, you can’t be calm” so that jerk kidnapped me. I didn’t know where I was going, I was just seeing his strong arm on my eyes. I was scared, but I thought he couldn’t really bring me anywhere far before the cops caught him. After a couple of minutes the guy stopped. He pushed me on the floor and suddenly I heard a crack. He had opened a bottle of milk and poured it on me and laughed. “Seriously?” I thought.
By Elise Suddenly I heard a crack. A big black figure came out of a door. Some gross red liquid was dripping down his mouth. I realized it was a vampire. I started running for my life. Warm sweat was running down my rough face. “Bang” I bumped into a rapped mummy. A piece of cloth from the mummy got stuck to my hair. I pulled it off. Soft grains of sand went into my eyes. Will I ever get out? I kept running as fast as I could but I couldn't see. Will I ever see my kind mum and dad again or will I die?
